Everybody has had, just once in his life, a sore throat. Most of us know what this means. We know that it is something unexpected and unbelievable. We also know that the feeling of having a sore throat is very uncomfortable. There is the sudden pain in the throat and the feeling that it is choking us or running away from us.

What is the cause of this sudden sore throat and what can you do about it?

Sore throats are caused by infections. This infection happens at the mucous membranes. This is where the virus or bacteria that causes the throat infection finds a place to hide when we are taking care of our self.

It is usually caused by things such as foods, such as eating too many cold cuts, smoking, handling diseased and infected meat, etc.

There is no real quick fix for a sore throat that we can do anything about. It may be treated by using a swab of vinegar or good throat lozenges.

The swab works because it dislodges those irritating little pockets of mucus in the back of the throat.

These pockets of mucus cause pain and a choking sensation. If left untreated, the inflammation of the membrane and constant throat clearing will make it very hard for our body to be able to continue work.

What are the symptoms that you get after you have had a sore throat?

So what can you do to prevent getting one?

Well, first of all, it would be best that you avoid food and inhale in places.

You should be careful about your environment too. This includes your house, your car, your friends’ place.

Don’t sleep with your head elevated, and keep your clothes clean.

practice good hygiene and use a tissue when you cough or sneeze. This will get rid of the irritants easily.

  • Avoid chlorine exposure and stay away from water.
  • Avoid cold substances and ice.
  • Make sure you drink enough water to not be dehydrated.
  • Don’t smoke and steer clear of theaves.
  • Drink plenty of water at least twice a day and have water at your place at room temperature.
  • carefully wipe your teeth and gums with a tissue when you have to.
  • put on 100% oxygen through your ears.
  • always carry a small bandage for you to put on your snoring device or oxygen beforehand.
