Scientists have discovered when we are anxious and stressed, out brain waves tend to speed up from their usual slow, relaxed alpha waves, to faster, more alert beta waves. There are many ways of slowing down these brain waves and therefore re balancing the stress response.

Most people do this by taking tranquillisers as Valium, Librium, Ativan, Xanax or the assortment of other trade names that exist. All these will inevitably have some type of unwanted side effects, some of which include, dizziness, drowsiness, irritability, inability to concentrate and a general feeling of being unwell.

What most people want to do when they are stressed and anxious is to relax, but at the same time be clear headed, alert and focused. For many years physicians of old have pointed out that one of the best ways to resolve mind and body problems is to allow the natural rhythms of the body to deal with them. All we need to do is provide the nutrients that our body needs in order to manufacture its own tranquillising chemicals.

Over the last three of four decades, nutritionists and orthomolecular specialists have found natural substance to help alleviate anxiety. These occur naturally in food and include nutrients such as amino acids, minerals, fatty acids and trace elements.

One amino acid that has been found to reduce the intensity of beta waves and encourage the growth of alpha, waves is HISTIDINE. Histidine is the parent molecule of the highly active histamine, a substance that is required by the train.

Stress generally  reduces the levels of histamine available to the brain, resulting in the sort of irritability, uncertainty and mental confusion associated with a fear. By taking histidine supplements  you Can promote the alpha wave functions, calming and relaxing the mind when anxiety threatens to take a grip.

There are a number of other free amino acids that can also be used to alleviate anxiety. These include GLYCINE and TAURINE, which help to calm the involuntary physical agitation of anxiety.

So, what can you take to help with your anxiety? For histidine, taurine and glycine to work, some of B-vitamins are required such thiamine, inositol, riboflavin and pyridoxine, along with vitamin C. It would be possible to take each one of these nutrients separately but that would mean swallowing a lot of little pills.

Instead, it is possible to take these in one capsule, named CALMA COMPLEX. Another supplement that helps to alleviate anxiety is BIO-REST, which contains calcium and magnesium, both known to provide a relaxing effect on the muscles, as well as other vital ingredients.
