Here are some tips how to cureĀ  insomnia or cure sleeping problems.

– Try to avoid sounds that are overly stimulating, dissonant, or otherwise unpleasant.

– Massage the bottoms of your feet with warm sesame oil before bed. Sponge off the oil with a cool cloth after a few minutes. If pitta is your major dosha use coconut oil instead.

– Before bed, gently massage the two major vital points that relate to sleep, in the center of your forehead and the lower part of your abdomen. Use sesame oil or coconut.

– Avoid excessively dry or humid environments. Keep your bedroom well ventilated and on the cool side. Do not sleep with cold air blowing directly in your head, as that will disturb the Vata dosha.

– Do e sesame oil massage each morning before you bath or shower. If your insomnia is severe, try doing the oil massage before bedtime and follow it with a warm bath.

– Avoid watching television at night, especially after 8.30. Avoid violent films in general, as these disturb the Vata dosha.

– Keep you bedroom clean and neat. Use colours that are warm, soothing, and restful.

– Avoid stimulants such as caffeine, nicotine, and alcohol.

– Drink a cup of warm milk before bed. To make milk more digestable, you boil it before drinking. Also, it is better not to mix milk with sour or salty food. So if you eat a meal that includes these tastes, wait about half an hour before drinking milk.

– Continue using your daily sleep log and the following bedtime checklist record.

– Cardamom Nugget Milk. Pour one cup of milk into a saucepan and bring it to boil. After a moment, remove it from the heat. Add two pinches of ground cardamon and two pinches of ground nutmeg. Sweeten to taste with sugar. It is best to use unrefined sugar, available at health drug stores.

Note. You can add two pinches of grated or finely chopped fresh ginger to the milk before you boil it. Fresh ginger makes the milk more digestible.
