Herbal Anti Parasite Preparations

Anti parasite measures A useful follow up to taking anti parasiticpreparations is to proteolytic enzymes. These enzymes are digestive enzymes which  deal with proteins and, if taken between meals, instead of  with them, they can digest the outer protein cutile of parasite larvae or eggs which may be resident in the intestines.

Enzyme preparations which contains papain and bromelain are effective. Fresh pineapple and papaya contain high amounts of bromelain and papain and have been eaten by the natives of Mexico for centuries to treat worm infestations.

The lining of the gut wall, the mucosal membrane, is more susceptible to invasion parasites if it is damaged. The most important vitamin for this is vitamin A. Deficiency of vitamin A is associated with impaired immune function and an inability to maintain the integrity of the mucosal surfaces of the gut lining, which leaves it wide open to colonisation.

Sugar in all its forms, including honey, undiluted fruit juices and jams, supplies with an instantly available food, and so it best avoided if aiming to eradicate parasites. It is also possible that FOS will act as food parasites and it should therefore be avoided if you know that you definitely have parasites.

These are some herbal anti parasite preparations:

Wormwood As the name implies, this is an anti parasite preparation of old. It is effective against pinworms, roundworms, and beneficial in cases of malaria. The active ingredients, the sesquiterpenes, are believed to weaken parasite’s resistance, thus giving our natural defence systems the opportunity to work against them.

On addition to taking supplements, you can also make a tea using 1/4 to 1/2 tsp of powdered leaves steeped in hot water. This can be taken twice daily, but use for short periods only. While the tea and capsules are considered safe, wormwood oil is toxic and should not be used.

Goldenseal This is an effective support for the mucous membranes of the digestive tract and has an astringent and healing effect. The active ingredient is berberine sulphate, and goldenseal is effective against amoebas, giardia also candida.

Pumpkin seeds These useful against tapeworms and roundworms. Large amounts need to be eaten for them to have any real impact, up to 735 g a day for adults. They can be ground up in a clean coffee grinder and mixed with juice or sprinkled on foods. Three hours after taking them, take a tablespoon of castor oil to encourage clearance of the bowels.

Black or green walnut Useful for parasites as well as fungal infections, black walnut has been used traditionally for ringworm and athlete’s foot.

Garlic This familiar herb has a remarkable range of properties antiviral, antibacterial, anti fungal and anti parasitic. The active compound, alliin, is effective against entomoeba, giardia and pinworms.

Berberis Also known as barberyy, berberis is a bitter, digestive stimulant, bile stimulant and liver tonic, and is used for worms together with other herbs.

Grapefruit seed extract Grapefruit seed extract is also effective against parasitic infections

Colloidal silver This is an expensive product, but effective against bacterial parasites. It is important to buy a good quality colloidal silver preparation.
